How do you know all the details, locations and timings?

Please ensure you email back your ‘wedding information’ questionnaire two months before your wedding. (This was sent with your welcome paperwork).

Should we order food for you on the wedding day?

No thank you, I will bring my own food and go and eat at the same time as you. I prefer to always bring my own food as there are a couple of things that I cannot eat plus caterers don’t understand photographer’s timings and always try to feed photographers after the guests, which is when I need to be back in with you! So I’ll look after myself and then be back in the room for your speeches.  Soft drinks from the bar are always appreciated though, thank you so much.

Do you shoot posed ‘line-up’ style group photos?

I am mostly a documentary photographer, but I am happy to shoot important family photos (any available parents, siblings, their partners, the wedding party, grandparents) but I try to keep the amount of these more formal photos to a minimum, as it can be stressful for you and your guests especially if it’s a hot day, plus it can take up too much of your reception as just the ones mentioned above will take 30 minutes.

 .

What time and where will you be planning to take the couple photos and group photos?

I work around the best possible light and weather, but I will be looking to shoot the group portraits towards the end of the drinks reception – and then do your couple portraits later in the day, a couple of hours before sunset when the light is softer and more flattering, which is often after your meal.  It is very important that you work with me on guidance for best light, to ensure beautiful photos in the style that you have invested in.

How will the couple session be planned?

I will be shooting the couple portraits around the best available light on the day, which will usually be in the evening after you’ve had your meal, which is when the magic light happens! Earlier in the day the light is too harsh and unflattering. I will need around 25 minutes with you – and I will guide you into natural, flattering poses in the style you see in my portfolio.  I ask that we are alone (without other guests). Please try not to worry about keeping outfits perfectly arranged as movement and natural arrangement of dresses always looks better – and we can do some more formally posed dress ones at the end. The most important thing is to move during the session – kiss, hug, smile and talk to each other so that you don’t look stressed or frowning. Also I advise to please try not to worry about your dress getting dirty as you’ll only get to wear it once and you want to get the best possible photographs – and that can’t happen if you are trying not to move or hold a dress up off the ground! It can be a good idea to bring flat shoes or neutral coloured wedges so that you can walk comfortably. You are welcome to go for a quick makeup freshen too beforehand.

When will we receive our photographs?

I will be in touch at two/three weeks after your wedding with a lovely preview gallery for you to share online with family and friends, which you can also use for thank you cards.  Your full collection of photographs are ready around twelve weeks after your wedding. You will be receiving a lot of images back and these photographs are hand crafted and edited to a very high standard and it is not possible to rush my editing process. I really appreciate your patience.
